Mother

Mother threw a blanket of snow over us last night.

Silently, ever so quietly we were blessed by the soft touch

Of tiny flakes gathering just outside.

Mother didn’t wake us with howling winds or thunderstorms

She quietly slipped in to hug us while we dreamed

Of long warm summer nights.

Mother sang lullabies of flowers in the spring

And brought presents of the colors of autumn trees.

Oh! What a wonderful mother….
