Winter Wind

Winter winds blow harsh and cold over icy snow.

Winged ones struggle to stay perched on feeders hung from swaying branches.

Tree friends lose limbs that no longer serve them.

Some may be uprooted if this is the design.

Caves, thickets, and burroughs give shelter to the creatures of the wood.

How blessed am I in this warm snug home just getting up from a cozy repose.

The cold fingers of the winter wind stop short just at my windowsill.

Strong are the creatures out in the wild to survive the howling night.
